
Once completed, the travel journey between North and South Kerala will be cut to four hours from the current 12-14 hours with semi-high speed trains operating on the route at a top speed of 200 km per hour. The project was already approved by the Kerala State Government in June 2020. Kerala has signed a joint venture with the Railways for the Silver Line project, estimated to cost over ₹60,000 Crores. Niti Aayog has given the project its go-ahead and it is awaiting final clearance from the Railways.
