Jodhpur railway station gets ₹474-cr facelift

The North-Western Railway (NWR) has begun construction on the revamping of the Jodhpur railway station, with an investment of ₹474 crore. The project is expected to be completed within three years and aims to develop the station as a city center, providing better facilities such as lifts, lounges, executive lounges, and separate entry and exit gates for passengers. The new station building, concourse, and foot overbridge will be connected with a skywalk. The redevelopment of the Jodhpur station is being carried out under the guidance of the Rail Land Development Authority and the contract has been awarded to a construction company based in Bengaluru.

The station will feature a multi-level car parking, separate gates for arrival and departure, a security checking area, 72-meter-wide concourse area, and 32 new lifts and 16 new escalators in the main station building. The foot overbridges at the station will be connected to the skywalk. Additionally, the station will have an unreserved waiting room, executive waiting room, retail stalls, baby food room and other modern passenger facilities. The design of the new station will incorporate elements of the rich heritage of Suryanagari, such as yellow stone lattice work, arches, domes, chhatri and more.
