The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Ltd. (IRSDC) has invited Requests for Qualification (RFQ) to redevelop Surat and Udhna railway stations in Gujarat. The objective of the redevelopment is to transform these railway stations into Railopolis - a mini-smart city with mixed-use development where one can live, work, play and ride, thus attracting huge investment and business opportunities. These redeveloped stations will provide state-of-the-art amenities to the passengers and enhance their travel experience. The total area for development is 3,40,131 sq metre for the Surat Railway Station and 7,38,088 sq metre for Udhna station. The built-up area (BUA) for station estate development is about 4,65,000 sq. m., and 37,175 sq. m. for the Surat and Udhna railway stations, respectively. The estimated cost of both the stations is ₹1,285 crore and the projects have to be commissioned in four years. The stations will be redeveloped in line with global standards to transform them at par with international airports and provide world-class amenities to travellers.
