Indore metro rail project back on the track

The Indore Metro Rail project in Madhya Pradesh is back on track with the MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) fast-tracking the construction work on the six-km long route between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor, which will be ready for operations by August 2023. Out of a 31.55-km circle of proposed Indore Metro Rail project, MPMRCL has completed land acquisition and has already made available land for 17.5-km long 'priority corridor' while construction of a depot near Super Corridor and piling of pears (pillars) is currently in full swing.

Managing Director, MPMRCL, Chhavi Bhardwaj, informed that apart from construction of pears, launching of segments (girders) and setting up five stations on this section has been started while design of the train, which would be similar to that in operation in Kanpur, is likely to be finalized by a Gujarat-based company to start the fabrication (production). While Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited has been awarded a contract to install a 750 Volt DC line alongside the tracks to supply electricity to the trains and contract for rolling stock, signaling train control and tally communication has also been awarded and all the agencies have started working on the project in coordination under the supervision of MPMRCL.
