EIB approves fund for ₹4,511-cr Pune metro project

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has accepted to fund 60% of the total cost of extension of the Pune Metro project, which entails ₹4,511 crores. 10% of the project's finance will come from the federal government, 15% from the state, and the other 60% from the civic organizations in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. The Centre and State governments share ownership of the Maha Metro in 50:50 ratio.

PCMC-Nigdi extension line will cost ₹911 crore and the 5.464-km Swargate-Katraj line involves ₹3,600 crore costs. Maharashtra state government has authorised the comprehensive project report for the 9.77-km extension of Phase 1 of the Pune Metro, and the Centre is still required to give final clearance.
