DMRC to prepare DPR for metro line in Odisha
The Odisha government has partnered with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the metro network that will serve the areas of Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Cuttack, and Puri. The first phase of the project will focus on the route from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia, covering key areas such as Master Canteen, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Raghunathpur, and Nandankanan. The entire metro rail project will be overseen by Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Ltd (ORIDL), a joint venture of the state government and the Ministry of Railways. The decision to undertake this project was made at a high-powered meeting led by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) vice-chairman, Balwant Singh. During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given on various aspects of the project, including metro alignment and the need for multi-agency integration.
