Decks cleared for ₹4,080-cr metro line in Chennai - NBM Media Pvt. Ltd.

Decks have been cleared for the construction of the Airport-Kilambakkam metro line with the highway department giving the green signal for the execution of the project costing ₹4,080 crore. The CMRL has planned a mass rapid transit between airport and Kilambakkam as an extension of the Phase I project in the southern part of the city.

Chennai Metro Rail will make provisions for future projects of the Highways department such as an elevated corridor on this stretch. Only some changes will be made about the height of Chennai Metro Rail’s viaduct in certain locations. The 15.3-km Airport-Kilambakkam project will run through important locations in the southern suburbs with stations at Pallavaram, Kothandam Nagar, Chromepet, Mahalakshmi Colony, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Tambaram, Irumbuliyur, Peerkankaranai, Perungalathur, Vandalur, Arignar Anna Zoo and Kilambakkam Bus Terminus.
