Mitsubishi to build Rs 1,819-cr infra for new plant in Chennai
Mitsubishi Electric India will initially invest over $222 million or Rs 1,819 crore to construct the necessary infrastructure for the electric and electronic equipment manufacturing plant. The company aims to develop an air-conditioner and compressor manufacturing factory on the land parcel, which will be the first of its kind in India. The new plant is set to commence operations by October 2025 and will cater to the growing demand for air conditioning and compressor products in the country.
The Managing Director of Mitsubishi Electric India, Kazuhiko Tamura, stated that the new manufacturing facility will support stable product supply, strengthen development capabilities, meet local demands, and offer product lifecycle solutions for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
According to Rajaram Pai, the Chief Business Officer of Mahindra Lifespace Developers, the strategic location, coupled with robust infrastructure and commitment to sustainability, makes this collaboration a prime destination for the manufacturing industry.
This new development will further boost the Indian economy by providing job opportunities, promoting local production, and meeting the growing demand for high-quality air conditioning and compressor products.
