Uttar Pradesh Government Initiates Solar City Project in 17 Cities

Ayodhya has been designated as the state's inaugural solar city, marking significant progress in solar infrastructure development. The government is actively working on the installation of solar infrastructure, with plans underway to inaugurate a large-scale solar plant in Varanasi.
Energy Minister A K Sharma highlighted Uttar Pradesh's commitment to becoming a leader in solar energy. He emphasized Ayodhya's role in this endeavor, noting the successful generation of 14 MW of solar energy with an additional 40 MW capacity soon to come online.
The Solar City project in Ayodhya includes the installation of over 2,500 solar-powered streetlights and various solar-powered amenities, such as ATMs and solar trees, across the city's intersections, showcasing its dedication to sustainable practices. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also inaugurated a solar boat in Ayodhya, further symbolizing the city's embrace of renewable energy solutions.
