The existing double railway track will be converted into four lines between Cantonment and Whitefield stations and a new bridge will be reconstructed to meet the laid down standards. Rebuilding of Bengaluru East railway station is also part of this project as the work is being undertaken by the Gati Shakti unit of the Bengaluru division. The height of the new over-bridge will be raised, and it will be widened with footpaths for pedestrians and no private land will be acquired for this project, which is expected to be completed in eight months.
