PWD floats tender for approach road to new Khandepar bridge and underpass in Goa

The construction work on the approach road to the new Khandepar bridge, as well as an underpass near Safa Masjid at Ponda, is finally gaining momentum after being significantly delayed. The Public Works Department (PWD) has floated a tender for the recently approved project by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), which has also sanctioned ₹116 crore to carry out the construction work.

The tender work will include the construction of the approach road to the newly constructed Khandepar bridge, completion of the pending works of the 4-lane road at Angadi-Khandepar, and the building of an underpass. The entire project is expected to be completed within 540 days. The 7-kilometer stretch of the Goa-Karnataka national highway from Par-Khandepar to Shapur-Ponda has already been widened, but the bridge did not have an approach road on the Khandepar side. As a result, vehicles had to take a service road and junction to cross over, causing significant traffic snarls. However, the construction of the approach road will go a long way towards resolving this issue.
