Manipur to get World's tallest railway bridge pier - NBM Media Pvt. Ltd.

Indian Railways is constructing the world's tallest bridge pier in Manipur. It is a part of the 111 km long Jiribam-Imphal railway project. The bridge, which is being built at a pier height of 141 metres, will surpass the existing record of 139 meters of Mala - Rijeka viaduct, Montenegro in Europe. The 111 km project consists of 61 per cent of tunnels.

Once completed, the travelling time between Jiribam-Imphal (NH-37) will be reduced from 10-12 hours to 2-2.5 hours as the distance will be cut down from 220 km to 111 km. The project is expected to cost around ₹374 crore and will be completed by December 2023.
