Elevated corridor
The Bihar government is all set to start the construction of the 23-km long 4-lane Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor after the National Highways Authority of India agreed to modify the design of its eastern end to avoid vehicular congestion near the Danapur railway station. For the ₹2,200 crore project, the divisional railway office of Danapur will hand over additional 12-acre land to NHAI, which has agreed to increase the length of the ramp falling on Danapur-Saguna lane by 250 metres and will cost ₹25 crore more to the road-building agency. An agreement for it was signed at a meeting chaired by chief secretary Amir Subhani and attended by the additional chief secretary, roads, Pratyay Amrit and divisional rail manager (DRM), Danapur, Prabhat Kumar. The state government was directed by the Patna high court to resolve the issues coming in the way of commencement of work on the project. The elevated road would also drastically cut the travel time from Patna to the upcoming civilian airport at Bihta. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) undertook ₹1,200 crore projects to develop the existing Indian Air Force station airport as a civilian airfield to offload traffic at the JNP International Airport at Patna.
