BMRCL to build Rs 170-cr flyovers in Bengaluru
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is set to commence construction work on two double-decker flyovers on the southern fringes of Bengaluru, with an investment of Rs 170.74 crore. The flyovers will be constructed along with the metro line on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) as a part of the signal-free projects between Nayandanahalli and Central Silk Board. The two flyovers will be built at Ittamadu-Kamakya and Sarakki junctions. Tushar Giri Nath, Chief Commissioner of BBMP, stated that Rs 130 crore of the total investment will be spent on developing grounds, gardens, and walking paths, while another Rs 30 to Rs 40 crore will be spent on Banashankari junction. BMRCL is currently constructing a 3.35 km long road-cum-rail flyover from Ragi Gudda to Central Silk Board junction on the under-construction 18.82 km long yellow line that connects RV road junction to Bommasandra. The project will have a lower deck (eight metres above the surface) for vehicles and an upper deck (16 metres above the surface) for the metro, and is expected to ease traffic congestion in the area significantly. The construction of an integrated flyover at Banashankari junction costing Rs 55 crore is also being undertaken by BMRCL.
