Afcons Infra wins MAHSR twin tunnels contract
Afcons Infrastructure has been awarded the contract to construct Package C-2 of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. The package includes a 21-km underground stretch that will connect Bandra Kurla Complex Station to Shilphata Ramp, with a 7-km undersea twin tunnel under Thane Creek. National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC), a subsidiary of Indian Railways, opened financial bids for the project. The Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has announced that 32.93% of physical progress in Gujarat and 13.72% in Maharashtra has been achieved as of February 2023. The MAHSR project involves the construction of a high-speed rail network connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and a total of 352 km of elevated viaduct has been planned. Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli have seen the completion of 257 km of piling, 180 km of foundation, 155 km of pier, and 37 km of girder launching.
