NHAI has resumed construction work on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) with about 350 laborers currently staying in different camps along the DME alignment areas. NHAI has secured permission to resume construction of the highway after April 20, said DGM, NHAI, Mudit Garg ut it would take time to mobilize the entire workforce, and the project could be delayed by at least six months. NHAI is now seeking assistance from the administration to see if social distancing norms and sanitization can be followed properly. The MHA's guidelines also state that work could be carried out in rural areas but there have been restrictions in hotspot areas and those under municipal limits. The lockdown has resulted in revising the deadline of DME and the project will now be delayed by at least six months.
