The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has been directed by the state government to speed up the upcoming Jewar Metro project, which will link Jewar airport directly with Delhi. The DMRC has been tasked with the preparing of feasibility report, which is currently in final stages and is being handed over to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) very shortly. The metro line has been planned to be around 28 km long, along with the Yamuna Expressway. The foundation stone for the Jewar International Airport will be laid by PM this month itself. The Jewar airport, which is going to become the second international airport in the National Capital Region is likely to commence operations from 2023. In this connection, the government is planning to improve the road rail and metro connectivity between the airport and nearby places including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand as well as other neighboring states. Moreover, the Jewar International Airport will also be connected to the newly inaugurated Noid Metro Aqua Line, connecting Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
