    multi model corridor
The mega project of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the Virar-Alibaug Multi Modal Corridor (VAMMC), managed to secure in-principle approval from World Bank (WB) for ₹10,000 crore out of the ₹19,000 crore the total project cost, MMRDA sources said reiterating that the project cost has increased due to the modifications recommended by the Wildlife Committee of not constructing a corridor through the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The corridor will pass over the dedicated freight corridor, a highway and a high speed corridor hence the structure will be complex. The proposed corridor is more than 100-km in length and to have eight lanes, a metro corridor in the median, several flyovers, bridges, underpasses, overpasses and growth centres and has been aimed at decongesting Mumbai and turn its neighboring towns such as Panvel, Bhiwandi, Virar, Kalyan, Pen, Uran and Alibaug into business hubs, they claimed.
