Chandigarh gets ₹386-cr first flyover project

    Chandigarh first flyover project
    Decks have been cleared for the first flyover of the city at the roundabout of sector 29-30-Industrial Area housing phases I and II with the ministry of road transport and highways approving the detailed project report (DPR) recently for the project entailing an investment of ₹386 crore . The development followed after a series of meetings between officials of the UT administration and of the ministry. Initially, the administration had planned 7 km-long flyover, but the ministry reduced the length to 3.5 km, pointing out it would be enhanced in phases and funding has already been approved for the mega project. The administration has been directed to submit the revised DPR with the shrunk length, which it did and out of the 3.5 km, around 2.4 km area will be elevated stretch. The flyover will start near the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, rotary and ends near the Hallomajra light point. Sources said the administration would now initiate the tender process to allot the work to the successful bidder.
