KMRL extends Phase-III of the project

    Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has decided to extend the metro services to Angamaly in the third phase of the project. In this connection, the authority is making necessary changes in the draft plan of Angamaly route. KMRL will make changes in the draft plan as per the metro policy 2017. It is learnt that the officials will conduct a study on traffic in this route and the scope of linking metro with Nedumbassery airport and establishing transport facilities, including a tram. The report of this feasibility study will be produced while seeking approval of the centre for a new metro route. KMRL has invited tender in order to revise the draft plan and appoint consultant for the extension of the project. The new metro route will get started in the stretch from Aluva to Angamaly and that economic analysis and feasibility report on linking road and rail transport is being included in the draft plan. Initial works in Angamaly will start along with the second phase of metro extension work at Kakkanad, said an official spokesperson.
