MMRDA announces CST-Wadala metro line

    MMRDA announces CST-Wadala metro line
Construction work on the second Metro corridor in south Mumbai, connecting CST with Wadala is all set to start shortly. The corridor is an extension of Wadala-Thane-Kasarvadavli Metro-4, which is being executed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as it is currently updating the detailed project report (DPR) for the project. Shortly after that it will apply for approvals from the state government and subsequently conduct tendering process for the civil construction, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, UPS Madan, said, elaborating that the civil works may start as it all depends on the approvals. The extension of Metro-4 will be a mixture of an underground Metro and an elevated Metro whereby the underground portion is proposed near CST at the eastern waterfront that is being controlled by Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT), which is likely to bear the cost for the underground section as it will also benefit the port trust. As per the current plan, the alignment for Metro-4 starts from Thane and enters Mumbai limits via LBS Marg from Mulund heading towards Wadala via Eastern Express Highway (EEH) From Wadala, the Metro will be connected via an extension that will traverse via Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (RAK) Marg and head towards CST.
