Centre clears 23-km long road for NE

    Road Project
Adding to the existing road network of the north eastern states of the country, the Centre has recently cleared a scheme for the development of a road in Lampi hills located about 39-km from Boko in Kamrup area in the bordering Meghalaya. The new project, which starts from Compatoli to upper Lampi region, has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana of this fiscal. Prior to this, the development of a 15.7km stretch from Boko to Compatoli has already been completed. In the absence of road connectivity in the area, the habitants were facing great hardship and inconvenience as even the pick-up vans with four-wheel gear were finding it tough to negotiate the narrow hilly terrains where locals were being forced to walk the entire stretch.
