UP awaits Rs.27,000 cr infra projects

    In their quest to make the most out of the emerging biz avenues in the state, ITC Ltd and infrastructure finance company Srei Infra have evinced keen interest in investing a staggering sum of Rs.27,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, State Industry Minister, Satish Mahana said that ITC eyed Rs.2,000 crore investment towards a proposed food park and also a solar park. Srei, on the other hand, has expressed interest to participate in the urban development plans and worth Rs.25,000 crore investments has been targeted in the state. The exact quantum of investments will be decided once the detailed project reports are finalized but, the state has seen interest from Kolkata-based companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh. The Minister and other bureaucrats were holding road show ahead of its two day investors’ summit scheduled in February and that the state has targeted to draw investments of Rs.1 lakh crore during the event, he said that the State Government would look at international road shows for future editions of the summit. The State Government will unveil an electronic clearance system – for industrial projects and proposals – which will not require any human interface. There are also score of futuristic policies that are coming in the next fortnight and these policies will be in the areas of electric vehicle, logistic and warehousing, defence manufacturing and pharmaceuticals sector, he added.
