    AP announces 100-km ring road project

    In its quest to build top class road infrastructure in the temple city of Tirupati, the state land acquisition (LA) department has fast tracked the work for laying four-lane 100-km outer ring road to decongest the temple city from pilgrim vehicles coming to Tirumala. The diversion of traffic will give a facelift to temple city. The ring road on the lines of outer ring road in Hyderabad for providing better connectivity to Tirumala for pilgrims coming in vehicles was announced by the state chief minister. The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the TTD are jointly laying the road around the holy city. The NHAI has already begun acquiring required land and is preparing tenders to call bidders for laying ring road and recently, officials have conducted a detailed survey on land requirement for Vaikuntamala Project. The TTD started laying the road from Alipiri to Bengaluru bypass road via SV Zoo Park and Cherlopalli crossroads and that TUDA surveyors have been marking the sites at Cherlopalli for laying 150 feet road. As per the blueprint, the ring road will connect Renigunta Airport to Alipiri via Karakambadi, Sarovar Hotel, forest office and Nandi Circle. Similarly, other connectivity is in between Alipiri and Bengaluru bypass road via SV Zoo Park and Cherlopalli crossroads and yet another stretch start from Cherlopalli crossroads via Daminedu Gajulamandyam Junction to Renigunta Airport, said official sources.
