Adding to its project portfolio in the infrastructure sector, the Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) recently bagged two contracts in Bangladesh entailing a staggering investment worth Rs.5,000 crore. The winning of projects included an EPC order for Rs.3,675 crore from NLC India for setting up the allied infrastructure for two Lignite-based CFBC Thermal Power Projects of capacity 250 MW each. The projects for gas-based power plant and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal were secured after international competitive bidding in Bangladesh. Both the contracts, which are to be executed within 24 months and are to be completed by 2019, setting up the infrastructure for a 750 Megawatt LNG-based combined cycle power plant at Meghnaghat in Dhaka in the first case. While the second project is for building a 500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) capacity floating storage re-gasification unit (FSRU)-based LNG terminal at Kutubdia Island in that nation, said CEO-EPC, RInfra, Arun Gupta, adding that the thrust on EPC has ensured the successful execution of all the EPC projects it has secured. The contracts for both the projects included design, engineering, supply, transportation, erection, testing and commissioning. The integrated LNG terminal project works would also include setting up a jetty and onshore and offshore gas pipelines. RInfra has presence in roads and highways, railways and metro, mega civil projects, water and marine and renewable energy segments apart from the power sector.
