The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has recently announced that it is going to float tenders for widening of Pune-Bhugoan-Pirnagut-Paud Road at an investment of Rs.450 crore, said official sources. They said adding that the funds have already been cleared for the mega project, which is being taken up in a phased manner. The widening of road up to Paud is part of a project to strengthen the Pune-Paud-Tamhini-Mandgaon-Dighi Port highway linking Dighi Port. A preliminary sanction of the tenders is expected in the next one month and as per the plan, Pune (Bhugaon) to Paud Road will be made four-lane with addition of two more lanes to the existing road. The stretch will become three-lane road and that Union Nitin Gadkari during his recent visit to the city had given a push to various road projects including the project in question.
