HMDA unveils Rs.369cr double-decker bridges

    Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)
Ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic on the stretch, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has planned to invest Rs.369 crore in building a double-decker flyover, which involved Rs.265 crore for land acquisition while construction cost was placed at Rs.104 crore for the one-kilometre flyover. Nearly 60 properties on either side of the road have to be acquired to widen the road to 200 feet for the construction of the flyover. The construction company, that bagged the project, has proposed a double-decker flyover design, which it felt would address land acquisition issues. The newly proposed design would have one lower level flyover for one-side traffic and an upper level to allow traffic from the other side. The firm, according to officials, claimed that the new design would require just 10 per cent of properties that was proposed earlier. The government has asked Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to conduct a feasibility study for the new model and submit a report comparing both designs.
