MoRTH commits Rs.12,000 cr projects for TN

    The Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has committed to clear Rs.12,000 crore road projects for Tamil Nadu. The projects included Tiruchi-Chidambaram; Villupuram-Nagapattinam, Chennai-Tada, and Poonamallee-Walajahpet and all these road ventures will be started shortly. As a matter of fact, nearly 1,300 km of new National Highways will be sanctioned for the state as the ministry has planned to build three elevated corridors connecting Chennai with the outskirts areas costing nearly Rs.5,000 crore and apart from this, another corridor will connect Tambaram with Chenglepet at a cost of Rs.2,250 crore, yet another from Poonamalle to Maduravoyal Rs.1,500 crore and third from Chennai to Vandalur at an investment of Rs.1,000 crore. These apart, construction work on the Rs.20,000 crore Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway, has already been sanctioned and building work would start by December 2018 as nearly 80% of land acquisition has already been carried out, the minister claimed.
