Bengal plans Rs. 1,000-cr infra projects
In a bid to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic, the West Bengal public works department will build a four lanes road over bridge (ROB) above railway tracks and score of other project in Siliguri's Burdwan Road and elsewhere at an investment of Rs.1,000 crore. The project in question will connect Asian Highway II and the construction work on the project has already started. As part of the four-lane project, the authority will build a road over bridge between Jhankar More and Airview More, and apart from this, there will also be service roads on either side of the four-lane road, said the principal secretary of the PWD, Indever Pandey. As of now, there is an ROB at the location, but once Burdwan Road turns into a four-lane road, there will be traffic congestion. The PWD had envisaged more projects for Siliguri including a new bridge over the Mahananda River, elevation of a portion of Sevoke Road and upgrade of NH-31 into a for lanes road between Balason Bridge and Darjeeling More.
