New peripheral road on anvil in NCR

New peripheral road on anvil in NCR
Work on the Greater Southern Peripheral Road (GSPR) project, connecting Mehrauli in Delhi to IMT in Manesar, is all set to start shortly, and in this connection, HUDA has started acquisition of land for the 40 km-long project. According to a senior Huda official, the state government is now conducting a feasibility survey of the project and now negotiation with concerned agencies are on to work out ways and means for constructing the road for better connectivity. The project is expected to facilitate smooth flow of traffic from Delhi to Manesar's industrial area for which 395 acres of land in eight villages has to be acquired. At present, NH-8, also known as the Gurgaon-Jaipur expressway, is the only road connecting Delhi with Manesar's industrial areas. But it passes through Gurgaon, and owing to heavy traffic, commuters on this expressway regularly face huge traffic jams, which greatly increases the travel time. The road will be 90m-wide with a 30m-green belt on both sides. As per the plan, the land will be acquired by Huda and handed over to NHAI for construction. There will be a gap of 2.5 km between the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and GSPR, claimed an official spokesperson.
