In a push to build road network in Himachal Pradesh, Ministry of Rural Development has recently cleared 221 proposals of roads and bridges entailing a staggering investment of Rs.782.24 crore under PMGSY. As per the revised funding pattern for Himalayan States, the ratio of Centre and State share will be 90:10 that means out of the total sanctioned Rs.782.24 crore, centre share will be Rs.697.86 crore and State will contribute Rs.84.37 crore. The Central government has approved proposal for new connectivity, upgrading the existing roads and building bridges. Ministry of Rural Development, since inception of the scheme has sanctioned total of 17,774 km roads for connecting 4004 habitations at cost of Rs.5,451 crore under PMGSY. Out of above sanctions, HPPWD, so for, has completed 12,668 km of roads across the state.
