Govt. clears Rs.1,000 cr for twin cities

    The twin state capitals of Jammu and Kashmir have been granted Rs.500 each for building smart infrastructure across cities Union Urban Development Department cleared the proposal for developing Srinagar and Jammu as smart cities. A separate executing agency on the pattern of Economic Reconstruction Agency will look for implementation of the smart city project in the two states. The core infrastructure elements in a smart city include adequate water supply, assured electricity, sanitation including solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, affordable housing, robust IT connectivity and digitalization, e-governance and citizen participation and sustainable environment, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department, Asiya Naqash said that the Smart City project has components including top-class roads, intelligent traffic system, green zones, cycle track and urban traffic management.
