    Chennai road corridor
The 40-km elevated corridor, planned to link the city airport with Chengalpet over GST Road, which is estimated to cost Rs.2,400 crore, has recently been proposed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). The CMDA has already appointed a committee of experts to study the feasibility of the massive infrastructure project. A detailed project report would be prepared after the consultant submits the final report. The draft report comes at a time when the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is also working on a separate proposal for an elevated corridor connecting Perungalathur and Chengalpet. NHAI sources said the elevated corridor will be a toll-way. Toll plazas will be established either at the entry or exist of the elevated highway. NHAI has also called for bids to appoint a consultant to study the proposal. However, CMDA is in is an advanced stage of the proposal and has been working for more than two years for the elevated corridor and is a way ahead as compared to NHAI.
