New NCR airport gets Rs.3,500 cr booster

    In fast tracking the new airport project in the NCR, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has recently received an in-principal approval from Central government agencies— Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) and NCR Planning Board (NCRPB) for financing the Rs.3,000 crore Jewar airport project. While HUDCO has agreed to give the entire loan at an interest rate of 10.5%, NCRPB has agreed to give Rs.500 crore at an interest rate of 7.5%. The proposal has now been forwarded to the Uttar Pradesh government for final approval, Arunvir Singh, CEO, YEIDA, said that its chairperson Prabhat Kumar had also requested the state government to provide the Authority, which has been designated as the nodal authority for the airport project, with some funds so that land acquisition process can be kick-started. The funds for the first phase of the project, which are to be provided by the state government is to be developed in three phases on a 3,000-hectare land. In the first phase, nearly 1,250 hectares will be required.
