Azheekkal Port project gains momentum

    In an attempt to build the Aheekkal port project on fast tracked basis, the state government in Kerala has recently decided to form a company with Rs.100 crore initial funds for developing the mega port project. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the process of identifying a technical consultant for port development is currently on. It has been targeted to complete the first phase development by 2020 and the second phase by June, 2021. The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation will try to lure entrepreneurs to the area in view of the port development. Ports Minister Kadannapally Ramachandran, Ports Additional Chief Secretary P.H. Kurien, Ports Department director Ajith Patil, and VISIL managing director Jayakumar played a key role in unveiling the project.
