NHAI hastens Rs.12,000 cr road projects

    In order to provide all weather connectivity to the religious shrines, the government has fast tracked the 'Char Dham' road connectivity projects in Uttarakhand and they will be commissioned before 2018, the end of next fiscal, at an investment of Rs.12,000 crore, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that after the green nod the road and highways ministry has expedited the work on these projects which are on the top of the agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. Environment clearances have been granted for 10 of the proposals of Char Dham project and that the government has expedited the work and will complete the project within the stipulated time frame. The minister added that other proposals related to the ambitious project will be cleared soon as meetings are on among various ministries, including the Environment and Forest Ministry. The highways are built on a 900 km new alignment and tunnels are built at a fast pace as this will be an all-weather road network.
