Making it the country’s first such initiative in the road sector, the Chittoor-Bengaluru stretch of the NH-4 will be laid with cement concrete, said an official spokesperson, adding that at a review meeting with officials recently announced that it would be a model highway and concerned authority directed the department officials to brace for the mammoth task. The foundation stone for the same would be laid soon by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu very shortly. Surveys The Santhipuram-Nalagampalle stretch of the NH-4 was developed at a cost of Rs. 306 crore and the Nalagampalle-Allikuppam stretch with Rs. 506 crore . Similarly, surveys had been completed on the Tirupati-Chittoor, Renigunta-Naidupet, Madanapalle-Piler and Piler-Tirupati stretches and the cost has been estimated at about Rs. 360 crore.
