    SRP launches Rs. 195-cr project in AP

    Station Redevelopment Program
    The Station Redevelopment Program of South Central Railways (SRP) has recently started works at the Vijayawada railway station and also various development projects under PPP mode at an investment of Rs 195 crore, said official sources, adding that Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will lay the foundation for these projects very shortly. According to SCR sources, the Vijayawada Railway junction is one of the 23 railway stations in the country selected for the SRP and that the program would be taken up on 7.87 acre (31,849 Sq mt) of reserved railway land situated adjacent to the railway station, Rayanapadu, Satyanarayanapuram, and Ajit Singh Nagar for commercial purpose to generate revenue for the railways. In addition, station development land of 14,337 sq mt of station building area, 33,821 sq mt of platform space and 13,000 sq mt of circulating area is available at Vijayawada Railway Station to carry out commercial development of air space.
