Jharkhand awaits airport project

    In order to provide air connectivity to the mineral rich state, a world-class airport will be set up at Dalbhumgarh in Ghatsila sub-division of Jharkhand, Union minister Jayant Sinha said in a recent statement, claiming that a high-level technical team of Airport Authority of India has visited the place and identified land which is to be acquired by the state government. He said 300 acres of land would be required to set up the airport. The site is situated near an abandoned airport that was built during the 2nd World War at Chakulia in the sub-division. The minister also revealed that an air service between Jamshedpur and Kolkata would be started within the next two months as a bidder had been finalized under UDAAN scheme of the government.
