L&T Construction wins Rs. 2,903-cr contract

    The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has recently awarded a key design-and-build order of Rs. 2,903-cr to redevelop Mumbai's century-old BDD Chawls at Worli area of the city. The contract is the largest residential project awarded to L&T Construction till date. The BDD Chawls are one of Mumbai's most enduring features and by winning the mandate to rehabilitate them, the player has another huge opportunity to build India's maximum city, Deputy MD & President, Larsen & Toubro, S.N. Subrahmanyan said, elaborating that the scope of work comprises complete design and construction of 20 residential towers including 3 basements, ground plus 23 floors for rehabilitation. The project will also include construction of four high-rise towers with 3 basements, ground plus 72 floors for sale and one commercial development with 3 basements, ground plus 21 floors within a plot area of 16 acres along with MEP, finishes, onsite and offsite infrastructure, landscaping, demolition of existing structures and logistics involved in the rehabilitation of the current occupants, sources claimed.
