Gujarat gets new highways worth Rs.12,000-cr

    Adding to the road network of the state, the government has recently announced an investment of Rs. 12,000-cr to upgrade eight highways in Gujarat as part of efforts to boost road infrastructure development, said sources, adding that in the newest initiative, eight highways in the state with a length of 1,200 km will be converted into National Highways with the newly approved funds. In addition, the PM has recently unveiled a plaque dedicating to the nation a four-lane cable-stayed bridge over the River Narmada. The bridge in question, which is a 1.3 km long cable-stayed venture, is the longest in the country and is expected to ease traffic on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway. The project was constructed under EPC model by NHAI across the river with six lane approaches (6.7 km) on the section of NH-8 in Baruch.
