GDA fast tracks Rs. 3,367-cr infra projects

    In an attempt to bring the much needed relief to the commuting masses of the area, the metro link from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand has been placed on fast track and the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year itself. The mega project being built at a cost of Rs 2,210cr, once completed, will take the traffic load off the city's roads by more than 50%, said, vice-chairman, Ghaziabad Development Authority, Vijay Kumar Yadav. According to the executive engineer, GDA, Chakresh Jain, the construction work on an elevated road from UP Gate to Raj Nagar Extension is in full swing on the 9.3 km six-lane road being built at a cost of Rs 1,147.6-cr and this project is also heading for completion this year itself, the project is touted as country's longest elevated road to be built on a single pier. On commissioning the road will reduce the travel time from UP Gate to Raj Nagar Extension to a mere 10 minutes from the nearly 45 minutes currently.
