Country's road transport and highways ministry has recently chalked out an ambitious plan to decongest Gurgaon with a series of projects worth about Rs 10,000cr. The road projects included building bypasses and introducing of an ambitious pod taxi plan, which would be the country's first of its kind. Apart from this, the plan also included permanently doing away with the massive traffic jam due to water-logging that plagued Gurgaon during monsoons. In fact, the ministry will allow the new national highway called Dwarka Expressway as an alternative to the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. The highways authority has started acquiring land in Delhi from private owners for the same and the land in the Gurgaon side of the expressway has already been acquired. Apart from the road, the NHAI will also build roadside amenities and border posts for which too, the land is needed, said an official spokesperson.
