NH-24 awaits a flurry of underpasses

    NH24 Underpasses
For ensuring smooth flow of traffic on the widened NH-24 as work on which is currently in full swing, the GDA has sent a concept plan to the NHAI proposing construction of staggered underpasses on highway as part of its highway-widening project. The NHAI, in its detailed project report (DPR) to widen the Delhi-Dasna stretch of the highway, had proposed in the past, an underpass each at all the major junctions where internal roads from Ghaziabad meet NH-24. The concept plan has been prepared by the Delhi-based Institute of Urban Transport and it proposes 10 underpasses to be constructed at staggered locations on the stretch instead of the nine proposed by the NHAI, executive engineer, GDA, Chakresh Jain said that the concept plan has been prepared keeping in mind the traffic regulations in our country, where one is required to drive on the left side of the road. The proposal to construct underpasses opposite junctions led to other logistical issues because the signals were to be installed by the traffic directorate of the UP government while the highway was to be constructed by the Union urban development ministry.
