PMC unveils Rs. 400cr road projects

    In order to build new roads and upgrade the existing ones, Pune Municipal Corporation has sought NOC from the Khadki Cantonment Board to widen a 5km stretch on Mumbai-Pune highway, passing through the cantonment to de-congest the traffic during peak-hour at an investment of Rs. 440 crore. In this connection, the civic body has also sought funding approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening of the NH stretch to 42 meters. The highway, with two lanes, is 15-meter wide in Bopodi. Its width shrinks to 12-meter in cantonment limits upto Range Hills corner. PMC has already widened the highway from Wakdewadi to College of Engineering, Pune. Amol Jagtap, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KCB, said, elaborating that the body has received a letter from PMC seeking NOC for widening of the highway stretch.
