
AAI has decided to build a new terminal and the reconstruction will not just resolve all complaints related to its maintenance but will also help increase the passengers and cargo handling capacities, said a senior AAI official, adding that the airport in Chennai was upgraded and modernized by the AAI in 2013 at an investment of over Rs. 2,000-cr and that the current expansion, which is likely to be completed by 2020-21, is estimated to cost a bit higher but it would increase its capacity to 30 million per annum as against 23 million currently.
