The state government in Kerala has recently cleared twin bridge projects for areas including Korappuzha and Moorad on the Kannur-Kozhikode National Highway, said official sources, claiming that bridges currently catering to the traffic were constructed around seven decades ago and will be reconstructed as per the proposals submitted to the State government by the National Highway division of the Public Works Department (PWD). For the Korappuzha Bridge, an estimated fund worth Rs. 20-cr will be invested and PWD hopes that the project is expected to be completed as quickly as possible as the final project proposal is ready with all the requisite clearances in place. The state agency would shortly float tenders and complete the project on time. For the Moorad Bridge, the State government will invest around Rs. 50-cr by using the fresh allocation, the PWD would be able to complete this project at the earliest, they added.
