AMC rolls out Rs. 2,235-cr smart city project

    In a recent development involving smart city projects, the Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) has rolled out an ambitious plan at an investment worth Rs. 2,235 crore, Municipal Commissioner, Indravikaram Singh said, elaborating that 78% of the fund has been earmarked for area-based development and 22% for pan-city initiatives. The civic body has prepared the smart city proposal with the help of Crisil risk and Infrastructure solutions. As per the plan, the area-based development envisions retrofitting of 2,200 acres of selected local area which includes vicinity around Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, old city, Taj Mahal, Taj ganj locality, and Fatehabad Road leading to inner ring road. The proposal largely focuses on preserving history, developing world-class infrastructure, a tourist-friendly city, pristine environment and plenty of job opportunities. Among other facilities under the pan-city initiative, systematic garbage collection, Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), 28 decorated and redesigned junctions. The plan also included 30 hybrid buses, 20 HoHo (hop-on, hop-off) buses, e-ticketing facility and vehicle-tracking system. As a part of the pan-city initiative, 208 surveillance cameras will be installed covering 90 locations, video analytics and incident management system will be developed and an integrated command and control centre will be put in place.
