Chennai plans bridges worth Rs.300-cr

    In order to build quality bridge and flyovers projects ensuring minimum cost, eco-friendliness, pollution and damage-free concrete structures at a cost of Rs. 300cr, the civic agency of Chennai has opted for Japanese engineers referred by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). On this score, the Greater Chennai Corporation has made various proposals pertaining to bridges and flyovers to reduce traffic congestion in the city for which JICA is ready to finance the projects. The engineers from Japan have also suggested new technology matching global standards said an official of the Greater Chennai Corporation, adding that residents of areas such as T. Nagar, Kotturpuram, K.K. Nagar, and Nungambakkam are expected to be benefitted from the new and innovative technology during the construction of flyovers in the congested areas. The flyovers are expected to reduce congestion on Usman Road, College Road, Sterling Road, Valluvar Kottam High Road Junction, Arcot Salai, K.K. Nagar 80 feet Road, Mandaveli Junction near Mandaveli Bus Stand Junction, Gandhi Mandapam Salai, Ponniamman Koil Salai junction, and Kotturpuram localities.
