
In its quest to provide hassle free transport facilities to the masses of the metropolitan city, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to extend the metro connectivity to the nearby areas of Mira Road and Bhayandar at an investment worth Rs. 25,444cr, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, Pravin Darade, said, explaining that the proposed new line could be an extension of Metro 2 (Dahisar to Andheri) or Metro 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri). The AMC, who is monitoring several metro projects that the MMRDA has announced to augment connectivity across Mumbai, has recently carried on the spot study of the 23.5-km Metro-2B (D.N. Nagar to Mankhurd) and the 33-km Metro-4 (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali) alignments along with top MMRDA brass. During the inspection, the team visited Mandale and Owale at Kasarvadavali to understand the issues related to depot sites, land and resettlement and rehabilitation of project-affected people, said official MMRDA sources.
